Celebrity Cruises has announced a $400 million modernisation of its fleet over five years.

The revamp programme, due to begin in 2019, will see a redesign and reconfiguration of all staterooms across Celebrity’s nine ships as well as a new sun deck, refurbished lounge, and new cafe on four of its ships. The modernisation plans will make the line’s current vessels closer in look and feel to upcoming Celebrity Edge, launching in 2018. “Celebrity Cruises has always been recognised as an innovative, trend-setting brand, and the Celebrity Revolution is just another instance in which we keep raising the bar in modern luxury travel,” Lutoff-Perlo added. “We’re not just redesigning the staterooms, we’re tearing them down and building them back up," said Brian Abel, vice-president hotel operations. As part of elebrity Revolution, suite class guests will get a new Retreat Sun Deck, which Celebrity said could “rival any high-end resort” and the “revitalised” Retreat Lounge where passengers can enjoy complimentary beverages, gourmet bites and live entertainment. While a new Oceanview Cafe, described as "an international marketplace with globally-infused menus" will feature exclusively onboard Celebrity Constellation, Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Millennium and Celebrity Summit.

Celebrity Cruises has released its new 2018-19 brochure, featuring the inaugural season of Celebrity Edge and new sailings from Southampton.

Celebrity Silhouette will set sail from Southampton for the first time, with the itineraries including a brand new 12-night Scandinavia and Russia cruise in May 2018. Skagen, Denmark, and Kristiansand, Norway, will feature as new ports. Meanwhile, Celebrity’s latest ship, Edge, will make its debut with seven-night Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean itineraries. Edge’s onboard facilities will include a rooftop garden and the Magic Carpet – a cantilevered venue on the side of the ship, which will travel between decks. It will become the ship’s speciality restaurant when on Deck 5, an extension of the main pool area when on Deck 14 and a luxury embarkation station on Deck 2.

Elsewhere, to coincide with the football World Cup in Russia, Celebrity Eclipse’s 14-night Scandinavia and Russia cruise gives sports lovers the opportunity to attend the third place game in St Petersburg and the final in Moscow via an overland tour. Celebrity’s new signature events also include a 14-night celebration for Chinese New Year in February 2019, with a cruise of Asia onboard Celebrity Constellation. For wine-lovers, Celebrity continues its partnership with The Wine Show, featuring five shore excursions curated by the show’s resident experts, Amelia Singer and Joe Fattorini.

Other highlights featured in the 2018-19 brochure include a new 13-night South Pacific, Fiji & Tonga cruise in March 2019 aboard Celebrity Solstice, including the new ports of Apia, Samoa, Pago Pago, American Samoa, Neiafu and Nuku‘alofa, and Tonga. A new 13-night Brazilian cruise on Celebrity Eclipse in February 2019 departs Buenos Aires, Argentina, and calls at Sao Paolo, Ilhabela, Buzios and Rio.
